2009 Annual Meeting Photos

The 2009 RBFAA Annual Meeting began with an exciting evening at the Germany Embassy.  Ambassador Dr. Klaus Sharioth graciously hosted alumni and guests for a reception in the Residence.  Special guest Colonel Gail Halvorsen, "The Original Candy Bomber," spoke about his Berlin Airlift experiences.


Rob Fenstermacher (XVI) received the Bosch Fellow of the Year award, presented by Kari (XVI) and Denis McDonough (XVI).

On the second day, a business meeting and elections were held, followed by two panel discussions.  Panel 1: "East and West Revisited: Germany 20 Years After the Fall of the Berlin Wall".  Panelists included Dr. Hope M. Harrison, Ms. Georgia Meagher(VI), Prof. Russell Miller(XVI), Dr. Marcus Schmidt, and Mr. Christian Wernicke.  The discussion was moderated by Lena Hagelstein (XXI).

Panel 2: "Political Predictions, Obama's Outcomes - Transatlantic Relations Today."  Panelists included Dr. Thomas Bagger, Mr. Christopher Hodges, Dr. Kori Schake, and Dr. Stephen Szabo.  The discussion was moderated by Paul Belkin (XXII)


In the evening, alumni were invited to the Newseum for cocktails followed by a formal gala dinner.


Dr. Daniel S. Hamilton delivered the keynote address, "Beyond Bonn, Beyond Berlin: America and the Stuttgart Republic"
