WELCOME / WILLKOMMEN

The Robert Bosch Foundation Alumni Association (RBFAA) was founded in 1985 by the first participants in the Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship Program -- a program that enables young American leaders to live and work in Germany for one year under the auspices of the Robert Bosch Foundation. The highly-selective fellowship program, aimed at enhancing transatlantic relations, is the umbrella under which members of the RBFAA are united. Through their participation in the various activities organized by the RBFAA, Bosch alumni keep abreast of political and economic developments in Germany, specifically, and Europe, in general; work to spread the transatlantic word; and form a strong professional network.

A note from the RBFAA Co-Presidents

Herzlich Willkommen!

Dear Bosch Alumni,

As Co-Presidents of the Robert Bosch Foundation Alumni Association (RBFAA), we are pleased to welcome the new Board of Directors and Officers as stewards of the RBFAA for the 2009-2010 program year.

The 25th anniversary event, held on June 19-21, 2009 in Washington, DC went off swimmingly and we would like to thank everyone who attended.  A big “thank you” goes to Professor Dan Hamilton, the keynote speaker at the Saturday gala at the Newseum, and Brent Goff, the evening’s emcee.  We would also like to offer our sincerest gratitude to all alumni, directors and officers of the RBFAA Board, representatives of CDS International and the Robert Bosch Stiftung and everyone else who helped with this event.  The anniversary event could not have happened without their support!

A video of Bosch memories, produced, written and directed by Mary Pflum Peterson and shown during the gala can be found here.  Pictures from the anniversary event can be found here or at Nicole Harkin’s photography website, where they can be easily downloaded and ordered.

At the annual meeting, one item discussed was the role of social networking in our group.  We would certainly like to be in touch with everyone more!  Our group has potential to help one another, be it through brainstorming about next jobs or just meeting up to remember the good old days as a Bosch Fellow.  So if you have a Facebook or Linkedin account, be sure to search for the RBFAA alumni group on those sites.  You might even post job opening or other links of interest there as well!

Finally, we hope to use the 2009-2010 program year as an opportunity to build upon the successful work completed by last year’s RBFAA leadership.  Planning is already underway for the 26th anniversary celebration scheduled for June 18-20, 2010 in Chicago!

Viele Grüsse aus Washington,
Nicole Harkin (Bosch XXII) & Seth Oppenheim (Bosch XXI)
